Common Practice of Water Filter cartridge Maintenance

Published by admin August 23,2021

Regular water filter cartridge replacement

The water filter cartridge cannot be used forever. It must be replaced regularly according to the type of filter medium and filter brand. The cartridge can normally be used for 3 months to 1 year, however, it is important to consult your filter user's Guide for the frequency of cartridge replacement. In order to ensure that you always replace the filter according to the required time interval, it is better to consult the business regularly and do a good job in the after-sales inspection of the water filter cartridge. In this way, there is no risk of missing the filter change date.

RO water filter cartridge replacement

Please note that complex filters such as the 6-stage RO water filtration system use multiple cartridges and may need to be replaced at different intervals. For example, the prefilter in the pure Pro quick change 6-stage reverse osmosis system with alkaline filter must be replaced every 6 months, and the post filter must be replaced every 12 months. Similarly, the reverse osmosis membrane will last for 2 years before it needs to be replaced. It is recommended that a TDS (total dissolved solids) exclusion test be performed on a regular basis to help you decide if you need to replace the membrane.

Monitor the taste of your tap water

Changes in the taste and smell of tap water may be a signal that you have to change the filter cartridge, especially if these changes persist. The quality of water may change and you may have to change the filter cartridge even before the recommended filter change date. So it's a good idea to have a spare set of cartridges ready. If changes in tap water persist after changing the water filter cartridge, make sure to contact the tap water supplier to report the problem.

Handle with care

Some water filters cartridge are made of non impact resistant materials, so if dropped, internal and surface cracks may occur. This is a special problem with sealed cartridges or ceramic filter candles. Handle your water filters carefully. If you fall down accidentally, we suggest not to use them. For safety reasons, it's better to throw them away and use a new cartridge instead.

Adherence to the above maintenance best practices will ensure that your filtered water is always up to standard and that your water filtration system is able to maximize its potential.
